MASTER FAQ: Everything You Need to Know

SECTION 1: Licensing & Ownership

Q: Do I "own" the beat after I buy a lease? A: No. A lease is a Professional Usage Agreement. You are paying for the legal right to use the beat for your song and keep the royalties, but I (the Producer) still own the original music. Only an Exclusive License transfers ownership and "retires" the beat from the store.

Q: If I buy a lease, can someone else still use the same beat? A: Yes. Non-exclusive licensing allows multiple artists to use the same beat for different projects. This keeps the cost affordable for independent creators. If you want to be the only person with the beat, you must purchase Exclusive Rights.

Q: What happens if my song goes viral and I exceed my stream limit? A: That’s great news! If you hit the 50,000 stream limit on a Basic Lease, you just need to Upgrade to an Unlimited License to keep the song live. Contact me, and I will credit your original payment toward the upgrade price so you only pay the difference.

Q: Can I buy a beat and keep all the money? A: You keep 100% of the "Master" royalties (money from Spotify/Apple streams). However, all beats are subject to a 50/50 Publishing Split on the composition, which is the industry standard for songwriting.

SECTION 2: Technical Files & Digital Services

Q: How should I send my files for mixing? A: Please send "Dry Stems" (no reverb/delay) as 24-bit WAV files. Ensure all tracks are labeled clearly (e.g., "Kick," "Snare," "Lead Vocal").

Q: What is the required delivery format for stems? A: Please provide 24-bit or 32-bit float WAV files at the project's native sample rate (minimum 44.1kHz). Ensure all stems are consolidated (all files start at bar 0, beat 1) and exported as dry files—disable all reverb, delay, and non-creative bus processing.

Q: How should I handle side-chaining and creative effects? A: If an effect is "baked-in" to the sound (e.g., a specific filter sweep or a signature distortion), keep it. If it is a mix-level effect (e.g., side-chain compression to the kick or overall reverb), please bypass it. If you are unsure, provide both a "Dry" and a "Wet" version of the stem.

Q: Do you accept Ableton Live Project files? A: Yes. Since I work natively in Ableton, you can send a "Collect All and Save" project folder. However, to avoid plugin compatibility issues (VST/AU mismatches), I strongly recommend freezing and flattening any tracks using third-party instruments or effects before sending.

Q: What is the policy on "Mastering Only" for premixed tracks? A: For mastering-only services, please submit a single stereo WAV file with at least -6dB of headroom. Ensure there is no limiting or heavy clipping on your master bus. If the mix is over-compressed, I will request a revised export before beginning the master.

SECTION 3: Copyright & YouTube (Content ID)

Q: I received a "Copyright Claim" on YouTube. Does this mean I have a strike? A: No. A "Claim" is simply an automated notification that our system has identified the music. It is not a "Strike" and does not hurt your channel standing. Because Medyve Studios registers all beats in the Content ID system to protect our producers, these notifications are a standard part of the verification process.

Q: How do I get rid of the claim so I can monetize my video? A: This is where we do the "heavy lifting." As part of your license, Medyve Studios provides Premium Allowlisting. Simply fill out this Pre-whitelisting form . We will manually "Allowlist" your channel in the Symphonic dashboard, which will release the current claim and prevent future ones.

Q: What is "Premium Allowlisting"? A: It is a professional service we offer to ensure your content is "pre-cleared." When you are allowlisted, the automated scanners recognize your channel as a trusted partner of Medyve Studios. This ensures that you—and only you—receive the revenue from your videos.

Q: Can I register my song with my own Content ID service (e.g., via DistroKid or TuneCore)? A: No. You must "opt-out" of Content ID when distributing your song through services like DistroKid. Because Medyve Studios owns the underlying composition rights, having two parties claim the same audio creates a "Conflict of Ownership." To avoid legal headaches, we handle the Content ID administration exclusively.

Q: How long does it take for Medyve Studios to clear a claim? A: Once you submit your request to our management team, we typically perform the manual clearance within 24–48 hours.

Q: Should I "Dispute" the claim through YouTube’s automated system? A: We recommend you do not use the automated dispute button. Those systems are bots. Instead, contact Medyve Studios directly. Our management team has a direct line to the distributors and can resolve the issue much faster and more securely through our professional portal.

SECTION 4: Payments & Refunds

Q: What is your refund policy? A: Because our products are digital downloads, all sales are final. If you receive a corrupted file or have an issue with your download link, contact support@medyvestudios.com immediately and we will manually send you the files.

SECTION 5: Physical Goods (Vinyl, CDs, Merch)

Q: How long does shipping take? A: Domestic orders usually arrive in 5–7 business days. International orders can take 2–4 weeks depending on your local customs office.

Q: I received a damaged record. What should I do? A: Take a photo of the damaged packaging and the item immediately and email it to support@medyvestudios.com . We will send a replacement or issue a store credit.
